About me.

I’m not a nutrition expert, but I eat every day!  I figure this gives me the right to have an opinion about food.  Over the past several years, I have become progressively more interested in food itself (I love to cook!), in addition to cultural perceptions of food.  I think that for the most part in the U.S., we’re getting it wrong.  So much of what passes for “healthy” (I’m thinking of meal replacement bars, “low fat” foods, probably almost any prepared frozen food, even if it has “lean” in the title…) just plain isn’t.  I don’t think it’s realistic for everyone to eat healthy 100 percent of the time, but I do think it’s realistic for people to at least know when they’re eating something unhealthy.  And I’m including myself in this, and I’ll be the first to say that there’s a lot I don’t understand about nutrition.  This blog is a way for me not only to express my thoughts about food and eating, but to discover areas where I can further my own learning.

Great saving and waste not tips here. I know I myself just opted out on buying some celery this week. If the store I was in, had a salad bar I would have used that instead. I have a recipe using celery- baked like almost au gratin w almonds even- a very old fashioned depression era recipe- came from someone from that time.
and My foodie update and progress twoard eating better.

Cooked up a storm for the week so I will eat better? A great chinese five star spice chicken and ginger rice and stewed lamb and a summer squash lattice tart even though it isn’t summer -yet Also remembered today I used to eat those noodle cup-of-soups- I know not sure of their wholesomeness?

Am starting my running program so will see when I get my spring and summer shape back?
